Senior Estimator

Job Purpose:

Responsible for the preparation of tenders and budgets

Responsibilities:

  • Receive pre qualification documentation, review scope of potential works, terms and conditions, etc. Collate and co-ordinate required information. Discuss with Senior Management prior to submission. Store all information on Company Computer System.
  • Receive tender documentation, review scope of potential works, review specifications, terms and conditions, etc.
  • Visit site to familiarise location and meet with client’s representative if appropriate. Identify visible hazards and risks.
  • Prepare schedule of works / bill of quantities if required.
  • Identify tender enquiries for subcontractors and suppliers and prepare and send out tender documents. Ensure sufficient quotations returned for competitive pricing. Analyse quotations and negotiate as required.
  • If required discuss with contracts department regarding programme, resourcing, etc
  • Price and prepare tender documents using all information and details available.
  • Attendance at adjudication meeting with Senior Management if required.
  • Ensure tender is submitted in prescribed detail to the correct authority within the stated timescale.
  • When required represent the company at pre contract meeting with client.
  • For successful tenders call internal pre start meeting and prepare tender documentation for handover to Contracts and QS departments. Review, analyse and assess requirements of contract at meeting.
  • Review Contract Documents when received with Senior Management for compliance with tender documentation.
  • Liase with QS during life of contract to review progress and financial outcome.
  • Review local and construction press, planning leads and other appropriate medium to identify potential clients and tenders. Discuss weekly with Senior Management. Establish targets and contact as necessary
