Contracts Manager

Job Description:

As an experienced Contracts Manager you will have the drive to take the business forward from an operational perspective, you will work closely with our Technical Director and Commercial Manager at a senior level on a variety of new and continuing work.

General Description

  • Develop and implement mitigation strategies for projects that are off-track
  • Build strong relationships with the supply chain, introducing new trades
  • Be a strong, assertive yet personable character that is comfortable dealing with all members of the project team ranging from clients and funders through to trade operatives.
  • Exceptional technical knowledge of how projects should be sequenced and built in the most economical manner.
  • Consider value engineering/amendments
  • Ensure all sites are maintained to the company’s standards paying particular attention to site presentation and cleanliness
  • Ensure branding and first impressions are implemented and maintained to the highest standards.
  • Develop target programmes and short term lookahead programmes
  • Work closely with the commercial team (QS and Buyer) to ensure that procurement schedule is developed and robust dates inserted to ensure no delays are encountered on site as a result of procurement
  • Hold regular supply chain meetings to review performance and workload. Ensure any issues are dealt with early before they escalate.
  • Prepare monthly Management Report and attend management meetings
  • Ensure labour, plant and material resources are efficiently utilised providing good notice of requirements and ensuring minimal wastage of materials and control of on-site waste skips
  • Ensure all site staff are properly qualified and adequately trained to carry out their duties by continual assessment. Liaise with Health & Safety Manager/Consultants and HR Manger to make arrangements for any necessary training.
  • Ensure compliance with the company Quality Management System (QUENSH) for all activities on site and take responsibility for monitoring both Quality and H&S on site. Become the main point of contact for our H&S Consultants.
  • Manage the Customer Care Maintenance operative and Site Manager to ensure the efficient close out of any snagging and defects.
  • Be commercially aware and ensure that the cost of defect rectification are borne by the appropriate party e.g. sub-contractors etc.

Desirable Skills And Experience

To be considered for this Contracts Manager role you should have the following experience, skills, and attributes:

  • Proven experience of at least 5 years as a Contracts Manager within the construction or property development industry
  • Hold a relevant industry qualifications
  • Strong people management and relationship building skills
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • CSCS & full first aid certificate ( preferably)
  • Ability to prioritise tasks in order to meet deadlines
  • IT literate with strong administration skills
  • Full UK driving licence
